CARMICHAEL, Sacramento County — O’Donnell Heritage Park has completed a round of public-space upgrades intended to improve accessibility and the condition of its recreation areas.

What changed in 2026?

The Carmichael Recreation and Park District reports an August 14, 2026 completion date for its Measure G improvement project and a ribbon-cutting ceremony planned that same day.

The work included an accessible concrete walking path around the park, restoration of the butterfly garden and park entrance, resurfacing and repainting the basketball court, and improvements to furnishings and accessible accessories.

Contractor activity had begun during the spring, with walkway pouring and landscape work documented in June and July. These dated updates help distinguish the completed phase from other Carmichael parks where construction is still underway.

What should visitors know?

Improved pathways can make it easier for many residents to move around the park, including visitors using mobility aids. However, an accessible improvement does not guarantee that every feature or outdoor surface will meet the same needs. Visitors should follow posted rules and contact the district if they need detailed accessibility information.

The official project page confirms a reported completion date, but it does not establish that every piece of equipment is available on every subsequent day or that no maintenance can occur.

Follow future maintenance

For questions or to report a problem, visit the project page or contact the district. This is a report on a completed August project, not an announcement of new November construction.
